Location: Sunset Elementary School
Date Closing: Open until filled. Salary: Classified Salary Schedule. Pay range is $17.68 - $27.40 per hour depending on experience.
Assists the teacher as directed in the delivery of services to children with various special education designations.
Required Education-Certificates-Experience: Minimum of 49 college semester hours preferred or have passed the approved WorkKeys Assessment Skills Test (offered at the Craig Workforce Center). Experience working with children, data collection skills, ability for follow direction, flexible, positive, works well with kids and a team, professional.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the guidance and direction of the classroom teacher and/or special education teacher the paraprofessional might perform one or more of the following:

Language Skills: Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small groups situation to students, staff, parents and administrators.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to run; stoop and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs. The employee must occasionally push items of 75lbs. or more, such as pushing children on a bike or moving/rearranging furniture. Specific vision abilities required by this include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
